Step
1:
Open an internet browser to
sign in to the online setup page of your Linksys WiFi range extender.
There are three ways to sign in:
- Type http://extender.linksys.com in the URL bar at the top-left side of the browser window.
- Enter the Linksys extender's default IP address. Most of the Linksys extenders use 192.168.1.1 as the default IP. In case your extender has already configured, you will have to search the IP address in the DHCP table of your router.
- You can also directly enter the MAC address of your extender in the URL bar.

2:
Head over to the Wireless
section and then click on the Site Survey option. Now, you will be on
the Site Survey page. Here, you will get the following options:
- Select - tapping the radio button adjacent to the WiFi network name (SSID) chooses the SSID.
- SSID - shows the name of accessible WiFi networks.
- GHz - demonstrates the radio band of accessible wireless networks.
- Signal Strength - shows the overall position of the accessible networks within range by demonstrating the power of the received WiFi signal.
Note:
If no bar is shown, the extender is located excessively far away from
the router. For hassle-free Linksys extender setup, place your
extender close to the router to keep the signal quality between 60%
and 100%.
- Security - shows the security type utilized by available networks. In the event that a system supports WiFi Protected Setup (WPS), the WPS symbol is also shown.
Connecting
the Range Extender With a Router or an Access Point
Step
1:
Under the Site Survey section,
Click on the radio button that relates to your WiFi network name
(SSID) and afterward, click Connect.

Type the password of your WiFi
network and then click on the Connect button.

The sort of security data required in this screen should
be similar to your access point or router's WiFi security settings.
