Good Nutrition Good Health Good Life

Janiqueel takes a peek into the world of nutrition and highlights someone who can be a lot of help in understanding it.

To maintain the body in excellent health is a duty. Otherwise, we shall not be capable to keep our mind acute and clear.

― Buddha

Eating right and living right, there is an obvious connection. But how does one go about eating right? What are the most healthful foods? Which should be avoided? If we are what we eat, what am I? These days it seems that we hear a lot about nutrition (perhaps too much?) without receiving many directions among the noise. It can be very confusing. So much so, that many simply throw up their hands (having dropped their food first, we hope!) and muddle through the world of food and nutrition without maps and destinations. But don’t give up hope. There is direction right here in Singapore.

Founded by Puja Bansal, BioWhole Nutrition aims to unclutter the gut-brain-body connection by showing how all systems of the body are interlinked and how good Nutrition can help restore health and vitality. Having sufferedfrom chronic fatigue and migraines six years ago, Puja decided to explore the fascinating world of nutrition and its links to the body and, crucially, to the mind.

“I am very passionate about fostering good gut health in all my clients, through making simple sustainable changes” Eventually, after realizing that what she ate was the key factor in how she felt, Puja changed her diet, her lifestyle, and became a registered nutritional therapist! Now a member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) she’s able to help others, armed with the idea that “All disease begins in the gut”.

To become acquainted with her philosophy of wellness, and to find what BioWhole has to offer, consider a free no-obligation 20-minute consultation. If you like what you find out, launching into a complete consultation process may be for you.

The Process:

● THE FIRST CONSULTATION - is a 60-75 minute “information gathering” session where Puja explores one’s diet and health goals. Using the Functional Medicine approach, she delves into symptoms and functional irregularities and devises a dietary and lifestyle plan. Nothing drastic at first - just a soft launch into a new frontier and (who knows!?) a NEW YOU.

● FOLLOW UPS - sessions focused on the dietary recommendations and looking at new foods that may fit into the advice. This is where the advice becomes real as you look at what foods best meet our needs and can be made TASTY at the same time. We’re talking CHANGE here. Change is not always easy, but now you have a friendly professional guide.

● PACKAGES - three- and five-session guiding appointments to help solidify the lifestyle advice and dietary suggestions by emphasizing the gut-brain connection, making it work, catered to your individualbody and lifestyle.

Smart, considered eating is the cornerstone to a more well-balanced you. Only you? No. Once you’ve made a start into the “wonderful world of Nutritional Therapy” you’ll find that you become a guide for your family, partners, and friends.

Happy Travels!

Brussel Sprouts in Coconut Cream

(Brussel sprouts increase the production of Glutathione which is our body’s most powerful antioxidant)

Ingredients:

  1. 300 Grams of Brussel Sprouts (these can be chopped in half or cut lengthwise)
  2. 1 Cup Coconut Cream
  3. 2 Cloves of Garlic (Finely Chopped)
  4. 3 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  5. ½ Tsp Salt
  6. ¼ Tsp Pepper

Directions:

In a cast iron pan, heat up 3 Tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Once the oil is hot, gently sauté in the garlic cloves for about 30 seconds. Throw in the Brussel sprouts and cook for another minute with the garlic. Add the coconut cream, salt and pepper and cook until the Brussel Sprouts are mildly soft. You don’t want to overcook them as they can get mushy.
