3 Tips for Planning the Best Travel Ideas

Did you know that more than half of all Americans don't use all of their paid vacation days? Don't be one of those people. If your employer provides paid time off, or PTO, you need to use it!

If you're thinking that you don't know where you would go, then you're in the right place. With our tips, you can come up with some travel ideas that will have you counting down the days until your next trip. Read on and then start packing.

1. Picking a Location

There's a trend on TikTok where family members or friends who are going to travel together each pick a location they want to visit and create a presentation to give to the rest of the group. Using PowerPoint or another presentation program, they put together pictures and activity ideas. Then, everyone votes on where they want to go.

Another idea is a vacation planning service where you don't actually know where you are going until you get to the airport. You give them some parameters and budget, and they plan and book the trip for you. All you are responsible for is packing, and they'll give you a guide on what to bring.

If you're adventurous and willing to give up control, this might be a really unique way to visit somewhere new.

If you are struggling to decide where to go, put all of the places you're considering in a hat and pick one. Or, get online and see where you can find last-minute flights or vacation deals. You might find a place that you really love that you wouldn't have otherwise selected.

2. Ask Around

Think about the most well-traveled people that you know. Whether they are friends or family, ask them for suggestions. You can ask them for their favorite destination, one that they would return to over and over again, or a location that you just can't miss.

You can even start following travel influencers on Instagram for their suggestions. They often give tons of suggestions and many will respond to your comments or DMs if you have questions.

3. See Where Your Points Will Cover Your Costs

If you rack up your airline miles, hotel points, and rental car rewards, pick your next destination based on your points and where you can go with them.

You could also become a vacation member at a hotel or resort, like Marriott. Check out the Marriott Destinations Club Membership levels to learn more about what you can get if you're a member.
