Quick Guide to Back-Up Settings on Rockspace Extender

You know that moment when you're trying to change the settings of your Rockspace WiFi extender device, but somehow clicking on the wrong button ends up erasing them? I swear, at that very point, nothing seems right and the world looks like a pretty bad place to be in. I mean why not? Who would want to start the configuration process right from scratch? It's too much hard work!

But, the good news is that I did some digging and found a way to cut short the hard work. In simple words, I found a way to back up the lost configuration settings so that clumsy users like me can do a little less hard work and more smart work.

Steps to Back Up the Configuration Settings on Extender

The configuration settings of your Rockspace wireless range extender are stored within its configuration file. This means that even if you erase the settings by mistake, there is a chance that you can retrieve them. Follow the guidelines mentioned below and know how to back up the lost settings of your WiFi device:

1.      Connect the Rockspace extender to the Router

Before you learn how to configure the lost settings of your extender, you must have a strong internet connection. Otherwise, you'll be stuck with another issue. And I guess, you wouldn't want that, would you?

Therefore, to ensure that you face no internet issues during the backup process, connect your Rockspace extender to the host router properly. If you're planning to connect your devices wirelessly, don't. Instead, use a cable to create a connection between your WiFi range extender and router.

2.      Launch an Internet Browser on Your PC

Once a strong connection between your WiFi devices is created, the next step in line is to open up a web browser on your PC or laptop (whatever sails your boat). You are free to use any web browser of your choice (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Apple Safari). Regardless of what web browser you use, just make sure that it is updated.

Also, to be on the safer side, it is recommended that you clear the cache, cookies, and browsing history of your browser. Doing so will ensure that you face no internet-related issues while trying to access the Rockspace WiFi extender setup page.

3.      Access the Login Page

Connect your PC or laptop to a wireless network and access the Rockspace extender login page. To do so, type re.rockspace.local in the address bar of your web browser and press the Enter key. Then, refer to the manual that came along with your device and fill in the default username and password in the given fields. Press the Ok button to proceed further.

Once the BASIC Home screen displays, follow the below-mentioned instructions:

·       Go to Settings or Advanced.

·       Click on the Backup Settings option under Administration.

·       Now, select the Backup button and choose a location on your computer to save the file.

Within a couple of seconds, the lost configuration settings of your Rockspace wireless range extender will get backed up.

The Bottom Line

If you carefully follow the step-by-step guidelines mentioned in this article. By following these hacks, you can preserve your network’s unique settings and have the flexibility to restore them whenever needed.
